Worcester Chapter

Schedule of Classes 2009-2010

Sandra Goodwin, past-president of MSOG, and Pat McGrath, president of the Worcester Chapter, offer free beginners and intermediate genealogy classes at local libraries in the central Massachusetts area. Classes are held from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Please call the participating libraries to register for handouts. We ask that everyone bring a bag lunch for an informal lunchtime question and answer session.

To schedule a class, e-mail Pat McGrath.

Beginners' classes -- Course will show students how to begin researching their family tree and filling in the branches. Will include gathering, organizing, recording and documenting data. Students will learn to conduct oral interviews, search through primary and secondary sources, such as vital, census, land probate, military, and immigration records, as well as compiled genealogies; use the computer and the Internet to find and record family information; and analyze the accumulated data.

A brown-bag lunch is recommended due to time constraints and will include an informal 'question and answer' session.

This will be an interesting and fun-filled opportunity with handouts and charts to help you begin this exciting and addictive hobby. What a wonderful wy to get ready for spending those cold winter nights building YOUR family tree. We look forward to seeing YOU there!

As seating is limited and town residents will be given preference, to register for the classes contact the appropriate town library to get on the list.
